Doing as little as I can at the weekend
Weekends can be crazy. You can be darting from one end of the country to the next - one time I played in Letterkenny twice in five days, with a gig in Wexford inbetween. I am enjoy it, but it eats up most of your time. If I'm home at the weekend with nothing to do, I usually just do whatever the girlfriend tells me to! The girlfriend is crazy about Bruff rugby club, so we went out to a few of their matches this season.
The Mogul Emperor
I always eat out. Indian is my new thing - I get down to the Mogul Emperor a lot these days. But Limerick's full of places for grub - Luigi's, Milano, the Texas Steakout. I sneak off to Donkey Ford's sometimes too. The new Bruschetta bar on Mount Kennett is nice and social too.
Watching soccer
I don't really go to many rugby games - call me strange but I went to more Shannon and Garryowen matches before the whole Munster thing kicked off. I guess I'm trying to stay off the bandwagon a bit. I derive far more enjoyment from a really bad game of soccer. I'm a soccer fanatic. I was over in Manchester for the UEFA Cup final. It was brilliant, the Rangers fans have much more creative ideas for getting rid of their bottles than we do. I don't get down to Jackman Park as much as I used to though. I'm never at home at the weekends, and when I am herself has me doing something else.
Dolan's Warehouse
I've been to venues in the weirdest places - from Miami to Bulgaria to Qatar. I randomly met a lad I went to school with in Qatar, but that's neither here nor there. But of all the places I've performed, Dolan's stands out. I can't praise it high enough. Mick and Val have helped me a lot in starting up my comedy career. I started off doing little ten minute sets with Des Bishop, and grew from there. I MC a gig there once a month now, plus a bit of a home crowd performance at Christmas.
D'Unbelievables
I remember I went to one of their gigs at the Concert Hall years ago when I was in college. I was fascinated, it opened my eyes to different ways of performing comedy live. They coming off the stage, going into the crowd, performing out at the bar during intermission. My style of comedy would be very different to theirs, but watching them blew me away a bit.
Nancy Blake's
I've been going there for 20 years, which is funny because I'm 36! I remember the first time we went in there, a few of us ordered cokes, just to chance our arm. We didn't have any joy then, but I've always gone down there since. There's a nice atmosphere, with the old man's pub out the front, and then the crowd in the outback. I'm off around the country most weekends, so I'm usually in there on Monday and Tuesday nights.
