LIMERICK'S chances of reaching a first Munster minor football championship final in a decade have been dealt a severe blow.
Limerick face Tipperary in the provincial semi-final this Wednesday night in Semple Stadium, Thurles at 7.15 and must line out without influential midfielder Bobby O'Brien.
The Bruff man was injured assisting his club in the semi final of the county
under-21 A football championship last week and has failed to recover in time for Wednesday night.
The loss of O'Brien is one of three changes that management have made from their play-off win over Waterford.
Croom's Aidan Morrissey comes into the team at wing-back, with Monaleen's Darragh Bonfil switching to midfield to replace O'Brien.
In attack, Eoin McEnery comes into the team in the full-forward line to join his twin brother, Paraic, who captains the team. The player to lose out is McEnery's Fr. Caseys' club-mate, Donnagh Kelly.
The third change is between the posts, with Darragh O'Sullivan of Hospital-Herbertstown replacing Seamus Murphy.
Meanwhile, in the opening round of the county senior hurling championship over the weekend, their were wins for Adare, Patrickswell and Garryspillane.
Champions Adare were far too good for Claughaun, while Patrickswell had to come from ten points behind to overcome divisional side, Western Gaels.
Garryspillane can thank a nine-point haul from Donie Ryan for their 1-17 to 1-11 win over Tournafulla. The remaining five games in round one of the county championship take place next weekend.
In a senior hurling challenge game played last evening in Dundrum, Tipperary defeated Limerick 2-18 to 2-12.
